When I prepared my works about war I used, for them, the cheapest and the most colorful newspapers for women. The first poster invites us to get a free haircut on 8th May. The lady in the poster is a Polish TV Celebrity. During our lectures I saw a film about the end of the war in France in which people got revenge on women who had had romances and sexual contact with German soldiers. They cut these ladies’ hair. Probably because the end of war is a time of revenge.
The second work is letters from magazines and added words that are entries from the war’s lexicon. I used only the Polish language, because I can speak freely and emotionally about war only in my mother tongue. These words and expressions came to me from culture, grandparent’s stories, TV news and newspapers, and my feelings.
